Peace & Justice Scotland

Peace & Justice Scotland, originally named as a Resource Centre, was one of several around the country. Now as the last (wo)man standing, it grown to have National status since 1980 when Geoffrey Carnall, (who used to describe himself as its ‘midwife’ ),and his wife Elisabeth Seale Carnall set up one of the best loved peace institutions in Scotland, delivering projects to promote non-violence, human rights, conflict resolution, disarmament and ecological sustainability in the name of a culture of peace and sustainability. It has proved to be a catalyst for action and learning, bringing activists and academics into a shared learning space and bringing the isolated and the compassionate together which must be doing something towards creating a more peaceful and just society.
Since 2022, when Secure Scotland set up the shared hub where groups and individuals can meet, share resources, watch films or host events, P&J’s work has been based at Words And Actions for Peace (WandA) 58 Ratcliffe Terrace EH91ST ph 07949 479 977, email hello@PeaceAndJustice.scot.

WandA is open from 10 – 4.00 during the week and in the evenings at at the weekend for special events. Jan Benvie, Lead Campaigns Associate is there on Mondays and Wednesdays. P&J is still offering resources, and it recognises the need for all of s to share what we can do to offer peer to peer peace education as the antidote to the UK Government (and others) driving everyone to be ‘war ready’
This website is under re-development, but it will stay up as its worked on, because even if old links and addresses may not work, it can give you a good idea of our concerns and values. Recent work is on Facebook. Please visit, volunteer, share your concerns and your ideas. “Be the Change You want to See!”, as Ghandi would put it!”
